If Monks lived in Portland, this would be their watering hole. Full service bar bringing centuries of Belgian inspired beer and food under one roof plus a premium liquor selection. Explore with a nationally recognized Bier-Cocktail or simply sip on a glass of wine. Our food and beverages are sure to please many palette.

As a Euro-theme establishment we embrace bringing community together through sports. Watch your local team (Timbers, Thorns, Blazers, Beavers, Ducks and others) on our 114″ HDTV. We are also active athletes in the community with our very own Bazi Futsal Club and Old Grown Futbol Club teams. Sports teach us sportsmanship and leadership and we invite you to celebrate those values with us!

We are located in the heart of the Hawthorne District, tucked away just off of SE 32nd Avenue. Look for the orange building.

Who is a Bazi

“Bazi” is a Bavarian/Southern German term for a loveable crook. Pronounced “baht-see”. Most commonly used when playing drinking games, Bavarians slam their glass on the table and shout “Bazi” at the person trying to outsmart the rest. We know there’s a Bazi in every circle of friends.

What does Bierbrasserie mean?

Bierbrasserie is a description, not a name. It is most commonly used in Belgium and refers to “pubs” – bars with a ridiculous beer selection – that also have a full liquor license and serve food.

About the Owner

After surviving two rounds of layoffs in the software industry, Hilda decided to dust off that business plan she started in Graduate School and got serious about planning her second career. After months of interviewing friends and mentors in the brewing and service industries, Hilda returned to Europe to study the art and history of Belgian beers.

Long story short, Hilda did not survive round three of layoffs, but she saw this as an opportunity and Bazi was born! This bar was created with a passion for Belgian beers, the food and the people. Whether you are enjoying the many Belgian-inspired beers brewed in the Pacific Northwest and around our great nation, this is the place where you can compare something local with those Belgian beers rich in history and flavor from abroad. We hope every sip gives you an opportunity to gather with friends or meet new ones, and share a story. This is ours…

I am an avid drinker of Belgian beers, and am wondering if you have any Cantillon or Drie Fonteinen at the moment? I live in Salem, but will definitely visit your establishment.

      Hi there,

We currently have a Lindeman’s Faro Lambic on draft. We also have Drie Fonteinen and Cuvee de Ranke on our bottle list.
